pci_sparc_S7.Z is the stock compressed package file containing drivers for Tahoma 10115 and 10117 hardcopy (IKONihcp) and 10116 and 10118 DR11 (IKONidr) boards. The other files in this directory separate the drivers into individual packages. These separated drivers have been modified to work around a problem that seems to relate to PCI write ordering on certain SPARC machines, and only with the DR11 driver, and ONLY AT A SINGLE CUSTOMER SITE. We have not been able to reproduce these errors at Tahoma Tech, nor at a Sun lab. Until such time as we (Tahoma, Sun, or our customer) can isolate, identify, and correct the error, these modified drivers are provided here as a workaround for any user who experiences intermittent data corruption, or other driver errors. These drivers may be used in any SPARC system running Solaris 8 or later, regardless of whether or not it is experiencing errors, but are not necessary in a system that is not experiencing problems. pci_idr_sparc_S8_2004.05.21.0942.Z is a modified DR11 driver that works around a problem when running a 10116 or 10118 PCI DR11-W emulator in some Sun SPARC machines including the SunBlade 1500, 2500 and V440 - and possibly others. The errors are intermittent failures of the programmed I/O data path and seem to be associated with the PCI bridge chip used in these machines. The modified driver avoids the code sequences that trigger the error. idr.loop.test may be used to demonstrate the error and verify the fix. Failures occur at a frequency of ~1 in 100 to 1000 passes of the test program. The modified driver is suitable for use in all SPARC machines. It has been tested with Solaris 8 and 9. pci_ihcp_sparc_S8_2004.05.27.1415.Z is the hardcopy driver modified similarly to the DR11 driver to avoid the (so far only potential) problem. Please let us know if you experience unexplained intermittent data corruption, and if the modified drivers correct the problem. Tahoma Technology www.tahomatech.com tahoma@tahomatech.com
